As an acoustic neuroma survivor, and a licensed therapist, I look forward to helping you navigate your acoustic neuroma journey.
I have over twenty years experience as a licensed therapist. I have worked in a variety of settings, helping people with many different types of difficulties. Some of the medical challenges I have helped people cope with are AIDS, cancer, and panic disorders.
I have always had an interest in the way the body and mind work together, and how our minds can influence our recovery from physical challenges. This interest became personal when I had the challenges of an acoustic neuroma to overcome. My thirty years of practicing various relaxation and stress management came in handy, to manage symptoms such as tinnitus, balance problems, and one sided hearing loss.
In addition to my counseling experience, for seven years I did social work with disabled children and adults, and their families. This gave me a lot of insight into what emotional struggles individuals and their families face, with any type of medical trauma.
Your way of dealing with acoustic neuroma will be different from mine or anyone else's. I believe that everyone has within them the ability to heal from life's traumas, and the wisdom to know how.
It is my job to support you on this journey, and guide you to your inner wisdom. My approach is primarily a combination of Client Centered Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Stress Reduction Training.
